Which entity is responsible for the park and ride facility in Floriana? The area and equipment there are in such a state that one wonders whether anybody is actually responsible for the place. A couple of deep potholes (pictured below) have caused untold damage to many car wheels. A few hundred metres up the road, the automatic gate is raised and a sign covering the ticketing machine (pictured above) informs users to pick up a ticket from the office. This machine has not functioned since well before Christmas. Also, bins need to be emptied regularly.

Wrong date

It is good to see local councils taking initiatives and holding events in their localities. One way to advertise them is by distributing flyers to households. Such was the case with Naxxar council which distributed a flyer promoting a carnival activity that took place yesterday even if it gave the date as being Sunday, February 7, 2015!

Go slow

Why did it have to take so long for the work on two manholes in Crucifix Hill, Floriana to be completed? The job took more than 10 days and was done just in time for carnival weekend. Indeed, one is almost tempted to suspect that, had it not been for carnival weekend, the work would have remained unfinished. The metal grating was put in place but no tarmac or concrete was immediately laid, posing a danger to motorists who were forced to drive on the opposite side of the road.

What a waste

Bins should be there to discard rubbish inside not around them. However, it is also imperative that such receptacles are cleaned and emptied regularly. This is not happening at Mater Dei Hospital, near the parking pay machine.
