Tell us something about yourself.

I am half-dreamer, half-doer, which means I often dream about new experiences and projects but I’m also the type of person who very often makes them become a reality. I love to read fiction and a good book is my favourite form of escapism. I’m quite a scientific and logical person, which is why I read both an undergrad and Master’s degree in the field of computer science and have worked within the IT industry for over 10 years.

I’m also fashion-obsessed and, five years ago, I started my own mini-business as a fashion stylist/writer/blogger and have been steadily growing it over the past years.

How often do you travel?

It depends. Last year I travelled about 10 times. Some trips were related to fashion work, for example to cover fashion week. Others were related to simply having fun.

Do you remember your first time abroad and can you tell us about it?

A family holiday to Munich and Bavaria. It was magical and I remember visiting Neusch-wanstein Castle in the Bavarian woods and thinking I had stumbled upon Disneyland.

Best holiday ever and why?

LangkawiLangkawi

My honeymoon in Singapore, Malaysia, Borneo and Dubai. First of all it was my honeymoon, so it was already special and, secondly, it was to a part of the world I had never visited before.

Which place would you never visit and why?

There’s no place I wouldn’t visit per se, however, I don’t think I would voluntarily visit a place where there is an ongoing war.

Best travel companion?

This is a tie between the hubby and my mother. Both can match my energy and need for discovery and both are happy to let me plan the entire holiday. Hubby is a more enthusiastic supporter of finding the best restaurants, while mum beats him at shopping expeditions. So I would say it’s a tie, although the hubby might decide he’s better.

And what’s the worst your travel companion could do?

Want to lie in, take siestas and relax. I travel to discover new places, not to relax. In fact, I generally need a relaxing holiday after my trips.

What do you usually look for when you travel?

Culture and food.

The perfect holiday would be... ?

An adventure holiday somewhere in a rainforest in Vietnam, followed by a shopping session in Singapore.

There’s a sense of discovery, a sense of detachment from the everyday life

What is the best travel advice you can give?

Walk around and wander the streets. Try food you’ve never eaten before... experience the place. Plan ahead so that you’ll know what there is to discover – but do try to get a bit lost, it adds to the experience.

Flying – hate it/love it/neutral?

Not the greatest part of the holiday, but has to be done.

Istanbul, Turkey.Istanbul, Turkey.

The one place you never get tired of visiting?

Paris. Yep, it simply really is always a good idea.

Describe one memory that stuck with you from a place.

Kota Kinabalu rainforest. It felt like I had moved to Avatar.

You met the coolest people in?

Pubs and bars.

Caroline Paris in Krakow, Poland.Caroline Paris in Krakow, Poland.

Your best budget tip to save money on holiday?

Check for last minute discounts.

If you actually had to live away from Malta, where would you pick?

Sydney – I loved the lifestyle. There’s so much beauty.

What’s the one thing you would never do in a foreign country?

Eat at a restaurant that obviously caters mostly for tourists.

Anything on your travel bucket list?

Loads – Vietnam, South Africa, Thailand, Berlin, Switzerland, Russia, Egypt.

Travel is important to you because... ?

There’s a sense of discovery, a sense of detachment from the everyday life, a sense of adventure.

What has travel taught you?

To appreciate different cultures, different designers, different food, different anything.

Where would you retire and why?

Never thought about it, but maybe St Andrews in Scotland. I lived there for a year while reading for my Master’s degree and it is such a wonderful place.
