Gracious me! Can it really be three years since Jo-zeff swept the board (and the floor with the nasty Nats) and became Supreme Leader of Malta. Well, lucky old us, here we are reaping the multifarious benefits of his benign dictatorship… I mean, rule.

Yes, 2016 represents three whole years since we, who are close to the seat of power, first skimmed off the perks of our charismatic and loveable leader’s thirst for power.

And speaking of our great capo – but then, when do I speak of anything else – I reckon it should be round about now that he will be thinking of a major Cabinet reshuffle. It must be sooner rather than later, judging by the number of bozos he’s currently propping up around the Cabinet table.

And while never one to push myself forward and blag up my own totally justified claims to higher office, I have nonetheless embarked on a subtle campaign of self-promotion.

For instance, whenever he makes his triumphal entrance into Parliament, I make certain it is I upon whom he first sets eyes, as I greet him with a cheery: “Hi Prim, tis I… your loyal Cabinet minister-in-waiting.” Nothing too obvious.

Well let’s face it, he doesn’t have a lot of talent to choose from these days. I mean… if he thinks poor old Joe Mizzi and little tubby Manuel are Cabinet quality… well… God help us all.

Some doom-mongers have made rather too much of Jo-zeff’s recent problems with one or two errant parliamentary secs. So it must surely be time for some new blood in his Cabinet. I mean, here we are almost three years into the finest government this country has ever known, and our esteemed PM has still not seen fit to promote to his Cabinet his greatest asset… me; although modesty forbids me to say so.

I expect, like me, you saw and applauded that stunning video our great leader filmed as a New Year greeting

I expect, like me, you saw and applauded that stunning video our great leader filmed as a New Year greeting and gift to the people of Malta. As you can well imagine, in the wake of its triumph, Jo-zeff has been literally snowed under with offers from the biggest Hollywood studios.

Well, of course he has. His acting skills have never been in doubt and were confirmed comprehensively when that movie was shown. And I’d like to use this blog to urge, no, implore, our wonderful capo to turn down all those overtures; we need you here Il-Prim, your country needs you.

I know in the past I have been accused of sycophancy and of being too unctuous in my praise of our supreme charismatic and loveable leader, and unwilling to tackle some of his less appealing traits. For example, no, I do not close both eyes to the alleged rampant corruption at all levels of society, no, I only close one eye. And with the other one I see very little to complain about.

Oh sure, there is the occasional rogue element who seeks to take advantage of Jo-zeff’s sweet nature, but so far… these have been dealt with swiftly and ruthlessly… especially if they happen to swing to the Opposition’s side of the political divide.

And talking of which… the Opposition I mean, not the political divide… it says much of their so-called media when they have little else to do but to pick invisible holes in the altruistic actions of our leader’s glamorous spouse. What were they thinking about when they pilloried the good lady for exercising her considerable intellect and proffering her good offices to mediate in a seemingly intractable industrial dispute?

They should have been grateful and delighted that our party has people with such boundless talents to intercede on the side of right… or left… er. Anyway, they can shut up and do better to reflect on the countless cock-ups perpetrated by them during their quarter century of misrule… so there!

Not that they’re likely to get the opportunity to rectify their multitudinous mega-balls-ups in a hurry. All the evidence is that they will be occupying the Opposition benches in Parliament for a long, long time yet.
