‘The Gozitan University Students in Malta. Challenges and Suggestions for the Youth Ministry’ is the title of a thesis by Fr Mark Bonello in completion of a pastoral-theological course in youth ministry at the Salesian Pontifical University, Rome.
The thesis has been published in the form of a booklet which was distributed and discussed at a recent seminar for youth leaders, former university students and clergy organised by KDZ Gozo at the Bishop’s Curia, Victoria.
During the seminar, Fr Bonello delivered a presentation regarding his study, which identifies the challenges in accompanying youths through their university journey and act as a stumbling block for Gozitan youth ministry.
Fr Bonello’s study also explores various ways enhancing such ministry.
These include creating a structure in Malta to accommodate Gozitan university students, a Gozitan priest and a group of youth ministers, including professionals such as a psychologist, as well as to provide a physical space where the students can socialise, explore their hobbies and organise festive, educational or spiritual events.
