St Edward’s College, Cottonera, is organising robotics classes using the Lego Mindstorms EV3 kit for students in Forms 1 to 5. The classes started with hands-on experience in building a robot, and will be followed by programming of the robot so it can perform a simple task. Through the classes, participants will gain basic experience in design, engineering principles and problem solving. While older students will apply concepts of dynamics (movement) learned in physics and science to a real situation, younger students will be introduced to programming, an essential part of computer studies, which is useful for anyone who wants to choose computing as a specialisation in Form 3.
