These are the main stories of today's Maltese newspapers:

Times of Malta reports that a lawyer nominated for the post of magistrate has asked the prime minister not to consider her after the controversy which erupted over her eligibility. It also reports that court proceedings against 23 people over the Paceville club incident, in which dozens of young people were injured, were stalled
yesterday after the defence said it had not been given enough time to examine the magisterial inquiry.

Carrying a large picture of Justice Minister Owen Bonnici, In-Nazzjon says the constitutional authority had now condemned the government over its nomination of a lawyer for the post of magistrate.

L-Orizzont quotes Parliamentary Secretary Deborah Schembri saying that the Lands Department had failed the public and its own employees in light of the recent scandal. It also reports that the Labour delegates had approved a motion to have an MP stand as deputy leader for party affairs.

The Malta Independent quotes outgoing Labour deputy leader Toni Abela saying he was leaving his post with serenity and also reports the controversy of the case surrounding the magistrate nomination.
