The government's consultant on the reform of the planning authority, Robert Musumeci, has now been given the task to lead the reform of the Land Department.
Confirming his appointment, Parliamentary Secretary Deborah Schembri said she had full confidence in Mr Musumeci even though he was a consultant to her predecessor and had defended his handling of the Gaffarena case.
Launching a public consultation on the transformation of the Land Department into an authority, Dr Schembri invited all stakeholders to come forward with proposals.
Asked who would shoulder responsibility if the ongoing case instituted against Mr Gaffarena was lost, Dr Schembri said the government was isworking to win the case.
Mr Musumeci is a former Nationalist mayor who openly switched support to the Labour Party.
