Newly-released dashcam footage captured the moment a car flipped onto its roof in England's West Midlands in 2012 before sliding off the road with the family inside left unhurt.

The footage, filmed on the M5 motorway near Strensham, shows a white vehicle sliding along the motorway before hitting a blue car which crashes into the centre median.

The white car then slides onto grass on the side of the road.

Haulage and warehousing company Owens Group released the footage on Tuesday following an approach from the Freight Transport Association which appealed for examples of how technology had helped with road safety.

Health and safety manager at Owens Group, Mike Colborne, said the driver of the white car fell asleep and crashed into the central reservation, which flipped the car.

The driver along with his wife and four-month-old child, all survived unscathed, he said.

The incident was captured on a camera the company was trailing at the time but since the incident they have been installed them across its nationwide fleet, Colborne said.
