No one was injured in a fire inside a house near the former St Catherine's Hospital in Attard this morning but a man was treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire, reported at 9.30am, is believed to have been caused by a gas stove in the hallway.

Two people were inside at the time and a third, the man who was hospitalised, came to help them put it out. The two people who were originally in the house suffered from shock.

The fumes were dense and construction workers from the building next door went to help with their fire extinguishers. The police and firefighters arrived within minutes.

The house where the fire was reported is in Triq il-Gellewza s-Sewda corner with Triq il-Katalan.

Some damage to the hallway was reported.
