Valletta striker Michael Mifsud has been suspended for one match for barging into Pembroke Athleta midfielder Paltemio Barbetti who also received a one-match ban for his sending-off in the same incident.

Mifsud's charge on Barbetti in the second half of Valletta's 3-2 win over Pembroke was not seen by referee Esther Azzopardi but the referee's observer highlighted the incident in his match report, prompting the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner to sanction the Malta captain.

Barbetti was handed a one-match ban after he received a straight red card for kicking Mifsud as the Italian lay on the ground.

Three other Premier League players, Hibernians duo Gilmar Ribeiro and Jonathan Pearson, and Sliema Wanderers defender Stefano Bianciardi, received a one-match ban after collecting their fourth yellow card in last weekend's games.
