Chievo have moved to fill the sizeable gap left by Alberto Paloschi with the signing of veteran striker Antonio Floro Flores from Sassuolo.

Last week, Paloschi left Chievo to join Swansea on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Floro Flores arrives at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi on an initial loan deal, ahead of today’s Serie A trip to Inter, having scored three Serie A goals for Sassuolo this term.

Yohan Benalouane returns to Serie A

Yohan Benalouane has joined Fiorentina on loan after spending six months at Leicester City.

The 28-year-old defender signed for the Foxes in August but managed only four Premier League appearances.

Fiorentina have now offered the former Parma and Atalanta centre-back the chance to play regular football as they continue to challenge Napoli and Juventus for the Serie A title.

A Leicester statement confirmed Benalouane, who last summer agreed a four-year deal, had linked up with Paulo Sousa’s squad in Florence.

Hamburg foiled by email delay

Hamburg were thwarted by technology in their attempt to push through the deadline-day signing of Sekou Sanogo – with Cologne able to feel their pain.

Every transfer deadline day has its stories of dramatic last-second deals and those which did not beat the buzzer.

And Cologne were the first to commiserate the northern club after an email from Sanogo’s Swiss club Young Boys Bern arrived four minutes after the 18:00 German deadline.

In 2011, a fax machine jam prevented Cologne from signing Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who now plays for Schalke, and on Monday night they posted on Twitter: “@HSV We feel for you”

Everton swoop for striker Niasse

Everton sealed one of the costliest signings of the mid-season window when Senegal striker Oumar Niasse joined in a £13.5 million ($19.48 million) transfer from Lokomotiv Moscow late Monday.

The 25-year-old, known for his pace and power, penned a four-and-a-half year contract, much to the delight of manager Roberto Martinez.

“He is the right personality and someone who is in a very good moment of his career,” Martinez told reporters.

“He has had a lot of success in Russia and brings a different quality to what we already have in our squad.”

Niasse, named Russian Premier League Player of the Year in 2015, joined Lokomotiv in 2014 from Turkish club Akhisar Bele-diyespor, scoring 19 goals in 42 appearances.

Debuchy leaves on loan for Bordeaux

Right-back Mathieu Debuchy has joined Bordeaux on loan from Arsenal for the rest of the season as he seeks regular football to secure his place in France’s Euro 2016 squad.

The 30-year-old has played just seven times for the Gunners this season and was not included in the France squad that played Germany and England in November.

“I really need to play. (France coach) Didier Deschamps didn’t call me for the last two games so it’s obvious, I’ve got to play more than I do,” Debuchy said in December.

“I need to have several games under my belt to be at the Euros. You can’t be in the French squad if you play a game once a month or less than that.”

France hosts the tournament from June 10 to July 10.

Leroy Fer joins Swansea from QPR

Netherlands midfielder Leroy Fer has moved to Swansea City on loan from Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

The 26-year-old, capped 11 times by Netherlands, will be hoping to avoid a third straight relegation from the Premier League.

Fer was part of the Norwich City side that dropped out of the top flight in 2014 and a year later suffered the same fate with QPR.

His career began at Feyenoord and he featured in 100 matches for the club, making his debut as a 17-year-old.

Stoke smash club record for Imbula

Stoke City shattered their transfer record by signing French midfielder Giannelli Imbula from Porto for £18.3 million.

Imbula, 23, has signed a five-and-a-half year contract.

The fee dwarfs the £12 million that the Premier League club paid for Swiss forward Xherdan Shaqiri from Inter in August.

“I’m delighted. It was a long day but we have got a very good young player who has a lot of potential,” Stoke manager Mark Hughes told Sky Sports.

“A lot of things had to fall into place but they did thankfully.”

Imbula has UEFA Champions League experience with Marseille, the club he joined in 2013 from French rivals Guingamp.

He moved to Porto last year for €20 million.
