Thauvin: Newcastle winger Florian Thauvin has returned to Marseille on loan until the end of the season. The 23-year-old joined the Magpies in a £12 million deal in August 2015, and made 16 appearances, scoring once in the League Cup win over Northampton.

Rhodes: Middlesbrough have confirmed a proposed move for Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes has collapsed over personal terms. Aitor Karanka’s Championship side had a reported £11 million bid for Rovers’ Scotland international accepted on Friday night and he was left out of Paul Lambert’s squad at Oxford on Saturday. However, the move has hit the rocks following discussions bet-ween Boro and Rhodes.

Clean sheet: Barry Richardson starred in his first league game for 14 years as Wycombe grabbed a shock 1-0 win over League Two promotion chasers Plymouth at Home Park last weekend. The 46-year-old keeper was called into action after 15 minutes following an injury to Alex Lynch – and went on to keep a clean sheet in his first league match since April 2002.

Locke quits: Gary Locke has resigned as Kilmarnock manager, the Rugby Park club have announced. Locke reached his decision after the 1-0 home Premiership defeat by Hamilton on Saturday which kept the Ayrshire club in the relegation play-off position. He will be replaced by Lee McCulloch on an interim basis pending a permanent appointment.

Kokorin: Russian champions Zenit SP have signed forward Alexander Kokorin from Dynamo Moscow, the club said. Kokorin, a Russian international, had been linked with Arsenal, but has opted to stay in Russia, according to reports. Details of the contract were not disclosed.

Valencia: Valencia have agreed a loan deal for Atletico Madrid left back Guilherme Siqueira, the La Liga club said yesterday. The 29-year-old Brazilian has had limited opportunities at the Calderon following the return of Filipe Luis to the club. Siqueira will reinforce the defence of a struggling Valencia side that sit 12th in La Liga with 25 points from 22 games.
