Q: I would like to know whether there is a legal maximum percentage a business may request as a deposit for future business?
A: No, the law does not specify a maximum amount of deposit a seller may request the buyer when an order is placed.
The amount of deposit paid is a matter of agreement between buyer and seller. However, it is in the consumer’s best interest to paythe least possible amount as problems may crop up with the order and the more money the consumer still owes the trader, the better the chances of having problems resolved without unnecessary hassle and stress.
