Borriello: Marco Borriello has called time on his short stay with Carpi by joining their Serie A rivals Atalanta. The 33-year-old former Milan and West Ham striker signed for promoted Carpi in the summer and scored four league goals in 12 appearances. But a move to Bergamo has tempted the seven-time Italy international away who passed a medical yesterday morning.
Frosinone: Serie A strugglers Frosinone have signed former Italy Under-21 goalkeeper Francesco Bardi on loan from Inter. The 24-year-old, who has previously played for Livorno, Chievo and Espanyol, moves to the Stadio Matusa to assist 19th-placed Frosinone in their battle to avoid the drop.
Ascoli: Leeds midfielder Tommaso Bianchi has joined Italian club Ascoli on loan with a view to a permanent move in the summer. Bianchi, 27, has returned to his country after an 18-month spell at Elland Road. Ascoli confirmed that Bianchi had joined on an initial loan deal.
Earnshaw: Former Wales striker Robert Earnshaw has announced his retirement from football. The 59-times capped forward played for the likes of West Brom, Norwich, Derby and Nottingham Forest after starting his career at Cardiff, where he scored over 100 goals in his first spell at his local club. Earnshaw also played for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel and finished his career in Major League Soccer with spells at Toronto FC, Chicago Fire and Vancouver Whitecaps.
Vassell: Former England and Aston Villa striker Darius Vassell has announced his retirement at the age of 35. The Sutton Coldfield-born player, who had been without a club since 2012, earned 22 England caps, scoring six goals, during the reign of manager Sven-Goran Eriksson. He had spells with Manchester City, Turkish side Ankaragucu and Leicester after leaving Villa in 2005.
