Ten players were handed a one-match ban after last weekend’s BOV Premier League matches.

Tarxien Rainbows were yesterday still counting the cost of their 1-0 defeat to Pembroke Athleta as three of their players were among those on the list.

Brazilian defender Bruno Oliveira and Spanish midfielder Carlos Hevia Menendez were sanctioned after both saw red in the Pembroke upset while winger Joao Pedro was suspended for four yellow cards.

The Tarxien trio will miss Sunday’s game against Mosta who themselves will be without Edile Micheletti.

Micheletti collected his fourth booking in the 1-0 victory over Naxxar Lions.

Floriana will also have two key players missing for their clash with Birkirkara on Sunday as captain Nicolas Chiesa and Clyde Borg incurred their fourth yellow card in the 2-1 defeat to rivals Valletta.

Mbele Diosdado, sent off on his Hibs debut in Sunday’s 4-2 win over Qormi, will have to sit out the game against lowly St Andrew’s on Saturday.

Qormi duo Ousmane Sidibe and Ryan Micallef served their one-match ban in the league game against Balzan last night after both were suspended for four yellow cards.

This was probably a positive thing for Qormi as Micallef and Sidibe will now be available for Saturday’s relegation encounter with Naxxar.

Balzan had Justin Grioli missing against Qormi, yesterday. He also received a one-match ban for a fourth caution in the 5-1 rout of St Andrew’s last weekend.
