A distinctive van belonging to a gourmet pie firm has been stolen, sparking a hunt on social media.

Birmingham-based Pietanic said the 1960s Citroen H van, which is used as a "pop up" pie shop at weddings and street events, disappeared from the Digbeth area of the city on Sunday night.

News of the theft spread quickly via Twitter after a message issued by Pietanic - accompanied by a picture of the missing vehicle - was retweeted more than 300 times within two hours.

Describing the offence as disgusting, the Digbeth Dining Club street food event, tweeted: "Please help @pietanic Please contact the police if you see anything."
