Can the great minds of journalism create a new name to replace the horrible “Islamic State”?

“Islamic State” is an overstatement and every politician, every journalist in the world should stop calling this fanatic group by this name.

Why on earth would we address a horrible terrorist organisation by the name they themselves came up with?  There are so many reasons why this is absolutely wrong.

First of all, “State”is empowering. Would we like to associate these assassins with a nation, with an empire, or do we want to diminish their power?

Secondly, they love the name. I am sure that their media analysts have all the statistics on the fear they are creating.  But even worse, it is the media that has crowned them with this horrendous title.

Third, they should in no way be associated with Islam because this is contributing heavily to the rise of zenophobia, Islamaphobia and racism.

As everyone knows, these devil terrorists are killing mainly Muslims.  Attention on them has increased since they burst our European bubbles, but they do not deserve to have Islam attached to their name.

Alternatives? Anything but Islamic State.
