As expected, Caffè Moak Luxol and Hibs Electrofix progressed to the final of the Louis Borg Cup after eliminating Starlites Sports Experience and Gżira Athleta, respectively, in the two-legged semi-finals played last weekend.

Although Hibs were the favourites, more was expected from Athleta as the first leg was a balanced affair with the Paola girls winning it 53-45.

However, any hopes Athleta might have had of cancelling out that deficit were all but dashed in the opening two quarters of the second leg as Hibs changed ends 46-18 ahead.

Athleta were unable to repeat their first-leg effort as Hibs went on to emerge as clear winners 72-40 on the day and 125-85 over both legs.

Luxol met little difficulty against a young and inexperienced Starlites team.

They started pulling away in the second quarter of the first leg to change ends 40-19 ahead. They continued to dominate as the clear 87-29 win amply shows.

The second leg on Sunday was a mere formality as Luxol again imposed their superiority.

After leading 35-16 at half-time, they stepped up the pace on the restart to win 81-23 and 168-52 on aggregate.

Before the Louis Cup clash, Luxol and Hibs meet again in the St James KO final, scheduled for the coming weekend.
