During the pre-Christmas period I lost my wallet with important bank cards. I had not realised it, thinking I had left it in the car.

An anonymous woman, on finding it, handed it to a parish priest who in turn took it to his nearest police station at Balzan.

The police officer on duty contacted the Victoria police, since I am a Gozitan, and both made several calls to me and my parents’ house before managing to reach me.

All these people saved me the anguish of spending precious time replacing my lost documents.

It is refreshing to know that human qualities shine through and that people are honest, helpful and ready to go the extra mile.

My heartfelt thanks go to the woman and parish priest, whom I do not know, and to PC 3051, Ray Attard of Balzan police station, and PC 75, Kevin Saliba of Victoria police station, whom I have come to know. They proved to be special citizens and most humane public servants.

Returning a lost wallet all intact to a stranger is definitely a great act of kindness.

I hope someday I will be able to repay their kindness.
