The charity campaign launched as a cooperative effort between Persona Med-Aesthetic Centre and SkinCeuticals has ended successfully, collecting €2,400 for Hospice Malta.

President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca inaugurated the SkinCeuticals Charity Event in aid of Hospice Malta and the Maltese Association of Dermatology and Venereology on January 16. Persona hosted the event, marking the introduction of some exciting new products to their SkinCeuticals range.

To mark this special evening, Persona donated 20 per cent of proceeds on the night to Hospice Malta together with a donation made to MADV for its efforts towards skin cancer awareness campaigns. The other part of the SkinCeuticals charity campaign lasted all year, with a percentage of 2015 SkinCeuticals sales going to Hospice Malta.

“The goal of Hospice Malta is to continue to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families. It is thanks to similar acts of solidarity that we have been able to continue with our mission of providing free palliative care to patients suffering from cancer, motor neuron disease, respiratory, cardiac and renal diseases,” said Anabel Spiteri, fundraising coordinator of Hospice Malta.

Throughout the year, over 1,000 patients and their families benefit from Hospice services both during the illness and following the death of a loved one. Patients receive over 7,000 visits from Hospice’s team. Volunteers are also an integral part of Hospice through their contribution in all areas, amounting to around 12,000 hours of their time each year.

Hospice Malta seeks to preserve the independence, dignity and quality of life of patients. Families are provided with an environment where they feel accepted and safe through support and help during the patient’s illness and during the time of bereavement.

Persona general manager Kate Demanuele said: “We are glad we were able to contribute to Hospice Malta’s efforts in caring for patients and their families in their physical, psychological and social needs. As a patient-oriented service provider, we understand how much effort goes into giving care to people. Hospice Malta shares our patient-first philosophy and compassionately cares for patients who need it most. We trust Hospice Malta to continue doing excellent work and hope to inspire others to give to charities that can put it to good use.”
