Being avid readers of World War I articles, my family and I were disappointed on reading the names of the Maltese crew serving on the battle cruiser HMS Indefatigable who perished in the Battle of Jutland (‘Malta during 1916 – the Year of Attrition of World War I’, The Sunday Times of Malta, January 3).

My grandfather’s name, Carmelo Micallef was missing from the list of the Maltese crew who lost their lives when the ship was sunk during the battle on May 31, 1916.

His loss left a very devastated wife and two daughters, aged nine and seven, fatherless.

Rest in peace Nannu Carm. Pray for us.
