MSV Life made a donation to the Shangrila Home in Kathmandu, Nepal which gives street children shelter, food, medical care and education.

The donation was presented by MSV Life CEO David Curmi to engineer Marco Cremona, who has been supporting the home, along with many other volunteers worldwide, since his climbing of Everest in 2010. The Shangrila Home was hit by the massive earthquake of April 2015, which also killed some climbers at Everest Base Camp.

“During my travels I saw tens of street children in Kathmandu, living off the streets, sleeping with dogs and collecting money to buy glue, which they sniff to temporarily relieve them from the pains of hunger and destitution,” Mr Cremona said.

“I believe that the Shangrila Home gives them an opportunity to experience a new life, not only by giving them a home, but also an education. Nepal gave me a lot and I have made it my mission to give something back to its society.”

Mr Cremona was recently one of the guest speakers at an MSV Life staff motivation conference with the theme Make Change Natural, where he took participants through the arduous personal development path of overcoming challenging fears, doubts and physical circumstances to reach set goals.
