Hili Ventures, the Malta-headquartered multi-disciplinary group, has announced two key appointments within its top finance team.

Long-standing finance director Richard Abdilla Castillo, who has been instrumental in the group’s significant expansion, has been appointed managing director (transactions and major projects). In his new role, Mr Abdilla Castillo will dedicate his focus to mergers and acquisitions, major transactions and key projects.

Geoffrey Camilleri, who joined Hili Ventures as deputy finance director in August 2014, has been named group chief financial officer.

Mr Abdilla Castillo and Mr Camilleri will be based in Malta and report to Hili Ventures’ CEO Melo Hili. Their appointments come at a crucial stage in Hili Ventures’ growth. In the next few months, all divisions will be engaged in expansion in the sectors and markets in which they are already present, while seeking new ventures outside their current footprint in earnest.

“As Hili Ventures’ two most senior finance team leaders, it is imperative for Richard and Geoffrey to be positioned in roles where they are able to apply their experience and expertise to greatest effectiveness,” Mr Hili said.

As well as being a director of Hili Ventures, Mr Abdilla Castillo sits on a number of boards within the group. He joined the organisation in 1989 as a financial controller and has since been extensively involved in the growth of all the group’s companies. A certified public accountant, Mr Abdilla Castillo previously occupied senior roles at KPMG Malta, formerly Joe Tabone and Co., within the firm’s consultancy division. He was also responsible for several companies in diverse industries, based in Malta and abroad.

After obtaining an Honours degree in accountancy from the University of Malta, Mr Camilleri joined the Assurance and Business Advisory Services division of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Malta. He moved into industry and has held senior roles at major local groups of companies.

Headquartered in Malta, Hili Ventures is the holding company of a group with a footprint extending to 10 countries from the Mediterranean and the Middle East to Central and Eastern Europe thanks to a team of 3,500 people.

Hili Ventures comprises six divisions: Hili Company, Motherwell Bridge Industries, PTL International, PTL Holdings plc, Hili Properties plc and Premier Capital plc. Through these divisions, Hili Ventures is engaged in multi-sited activities with McDonald’s and Apple, logistics and engineering, technology and property.

Hili Ventures is also a partner of FedEx Express, CMA CGM, Hoffmann, IBM, Konecranes, NCR, Wincor Nixdorf and many other global brands.
