Mepa has approved an application by the owners of Pama Shopping Village to screen unsightly services on the back wall of the Mosta supermarket. That will allow the owners to finally apply for a trading licence when the works are carried out.
Pama has been operating without a trading licence since opening in November. The owners had explained that they cannot apply for the licence without a compliance certificate from Mepa in relation to a decision taken two months ago regarding the services on Pantar Road.
The planning authority granted a permit for the installation ofl timber-finish aluminium slats at regular intervals along the back wall, screening the services along the service corridor. The owners will also be installing landscaping planters along the boundary wall.
The works will only be carried out once roadworks on Pantar Road are completed by Transport Malta.
Mepa imposed a bank guarantee of €100,000 to ensure the works are completed within three months of the roadworks being finalised.
During a hearing earlier today, the owners also agreed to fund a number of projects for the Mosta Local Council – including upgraded playgrounds and pavements – in place of a €500,000 environmental planning gain.
