BONAVIA. On January 18, at his residence, TONINU (Ninu), of Żejtun, aged 76 passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brother and sisters, Rożina, widow of Michael Camenzuli of Australia, Salvina and her husband Salvu Cassar, Twanny Genovese, widower of his sister Carmen, Victoria and her husband Joseph Farrugia, Rita and her husband Alfred Portelli, his sister Doris who lived with him, Mary, widow of Manuel Zammit, numerous nephews and nieces and grand nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.45pm for St Catherine’s parish church, Żejtun, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30pm, followed by interment at St Gregory’s Cemetery, Żejtun. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Malta, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CORCORAN. On January 19, TREVOR, aged 58, passed away peacefully in his sleep. He leaves to mourn his sad loss his beloved wife Marceline Naudi, his mother Betty Corcoran, his brothers Gary and his wife Sue and Peter and his wife Jackie, his in-laws Mariella and Peter Degiorgio, Joseph and Vicky Naudi Montaldo and Flossie Naudi, his many nephews and nieces, friends and colleagues. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Friday, January 22 at 8.30am for St Julians parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Merħba Bik, Birkirkara, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MIFSUD – MARY, née Micallef, widow of Frank J., aged 95, died peacefully after a short illness. She leaves to mourn her loss her sister-in-law Emma Micallef, her nieces Anna Briffa and Lucia Hunt and their families, her dear friend Tony Galdes Giappone, as well as members of her late husband’s family. The funeral Mass præsente cada­vere will be said today at 2pm at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish church (Sacro Cuor), Sliema. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

PRIVITERA. On January 18, at Mater Dei Hospital, VINCENT, aged 91, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Mary Rose, née Ellul, his two daughters Marie and her husband Adrian Farrugia, and Cecilia, widow of Joe Mattalia, his grandchildren Francesca and her husband Peter Tabone, Ian and Jessica Pybus, Aurelie, his great-grandson Edward, his sisters Margaret, Lilian, widow of Oliver Vella, Vanna and her husband Charles Mizzi, Annie, widow of Dominic Bonello, and other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held today at 8.30am at Our Lady of Lourdes parish church, San Ġwann, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

VASSALLO. On January 19, FR VICGEORGE, aged 52, ex-chaplain of the Armed Forces of Malta, ex-parish priest of Marsaxlokk, passed away peacefully at his residence in Siġġiewi, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his father Leone, his mother Victoria, his brother Noel and his wife Josette, his niece Christabelle and nephew Andrè, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 3pm for the St Nicholas parish church, Siġġiewi, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at the Siġġiewi cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CARUANA DINGLI – STELLA. Treasured and unfading memories of a very loving mother on the sixth anniversary of her passing away. Deeply missed and never forgotten by her only son Noel. May she rest in peace.

Week of prayer

The week of prayer for Christian unity is being held this week and comes to an end on Monday.

The aim is to overcome the differences which separate the members of different Christian Churches.

This years’ theme is: “Called to proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord” (1 Peter 2:9).

On this occasion, Archbishop Charles Scicluna will be present at an Ecumenical service tomorrow at 6.30pm at St Nicholas Church, Merchants Street, Valletta.
