An all-time favourite, Bizet’s Carmen returns to the Aurora Opera House in October. Last year’s Traviata turned out to be a massive success with positive local and foreign reviews acclaiming casts and production.

The Aurora plans to build on that achievement with this Spanish love story, set to French words and music.

Carmen returns at a special moment as the opera house opens its 40th anniversary season. The 2016-2017 season will commemorate also 40 years of opera in Gozo. Colin Attard, who is celebrating his silver jubilee at the Aurora, will lead the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and an international cast that will be announced at a later stage.

The Aurora will also be hosting Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia – a production of Gaulitanus Choir as part of the Gaulitana Festival, on April 23.

Carmen shows on October 15 at 7.30pm at the Aurora Theatre, Victoria. Tickets are available online, or by calling 7904 5779 or by sending an e-mail to teatruaurora@leone.org.mt. A 10 per cent early-bird offer is being offered until the end of May.
