She was a pharmacist by profession. For some time we practised our profession together and I always admired her responsibility and dedication to her duties.

We shared quite frequently our vast knowledge of dispensing in pharmacies during the so-called ‘the near end of the dispensing age’ of the 1950s and early 1960s when patent drugs were slowly replacing the art of dispensing.

Although born in Cospicua, she established herself with pride in Żebbuġ, in one of the oldest houses of character near the old main entrance leading to the main square.

She lived a very humble life and dedicated herself to her family. She supported her husband, Judge Oliver J. Gulia, in very difficult times. Her love for her three children – Gavin, Kenneth and Alan – was exceptional. In return, they adored her for her kindness and dedication.

As recently as the last days of December, she was planning to celebrate her diamond wedding anniversary.

I was pleased to hear from her son, Gavin, that she appreciated my few words on the card I sent her for this occasion.

Unfortunately, she did not live to celebrate the occasion but I am sure that, from above, she will continue to embrace and pray for her loving husband, children, Fleur Marie and grandchildren.

May she rest in peace.
