Warning: video shows disturbing images

Distressing footage has emerged of an incident off Greece early yesterday morning which left three migrant children dead.

The children died in the Aegean Sea after their boat capsized in freezing waters en route from Turkey to the Greek islands.

The footage by a Sky News team was shot on board the Malta-based Migrant Offshore Aid Station vessel, currently operating off Greece.

Rescuers on board are seen dragging one toddler on board and desperately trying to resuscitate him - but the child, aged two, died along with a girl aged four, and another two-year-old boy.

The Syrian survivors said the boat was being driven erratically and a 20-year-old man, who admitted he had no experience, faces criminal charges.

MOAS has already saved almost 12,000 people in the Central Mediterranean since 2014.
