A Libyan man was conditionally discharged by a court this afternoon after he pleaded guilty to damaging the offices of the Agency for the Welfare of Asylum Seekers in Valletta.

The incident happened at about 1.30pm today when 32-year-old Hisham Ali Abugilla broke the glass surface of a desk, claiming he was not being attended to.

The man threatened to cause further damage, while challenging the AWAS employees to call the police.

He was discharged on condition of not committing another crime within two years and ordered to pay for the damages caused.

These amounted to €80, which he would be paying in four monthly installments.

Police inspector Priscilla Caruana Lee prosecuted while Simon Micallef Stafrace was legal aid.
