Transport Malta has acquired new electric vehicles for use mostly in harbour facilities. It has also installed PV panels on its facilities to power them. 

Transport Minister Joe Mizzi viewed the cars and the new equipment during a tour this morning.

He said the authorities were promoting the use of of electric cars and, as announced in the budget, those who buy an electric car would be given a  grant of  €7,000. 

The minister was accompanied by the Italian Secretary of State for European Affairs, Sandro Gozi.

He explained that a study on the use of electric vehicles and charging facilities in harbours was being carried out jointly with Italy.
