Njongo Priso is set to continue his career abroad as the Cameroonian winger has reached an agreement with Valletta to annul his contract.

Priso had rejoined Valletta last summer following spells in Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary. Despite agreeing a long-term deal with the Citizens, Priso had not ruled out the possibility of pursuing a move to a foreign club if the opportunity arose.

The 27-year-old recently signalled his intention to seek pastures new after receiving offers from a number of clubs and Valletta have decided not to stand in his way after talks between the two parties.

Sources told Times of Malta that Priso, who has netted eight league goals for Valletta this season, is weighing up proposals from clubs in Turkey, Cyprus and Kazakhstan.

Upon signing for Valletta last summer, Priso initiated the process to obtain a Maltese passport as he has been married to a Maltese for the past five years.

It remains to be seen whether Valletta coach Paul Zammit will look to bring in a replacement for Priso who played no part in the team’s last two league outings which yielded wins over Hibernians (3-2) and Naxxar Lions (2-1).

The indications are that Zammit will be focusing his efforts on strengthening his pool of young Maltese players.

Zammit has also been working closely with the club’s youth players. One of them, winger Jurgen Suda , the son of former Malta forward Hubert Suda, came off the bench to score the winner in Sunday’s victory over Naxxar.
