Maltese energy investment in Montenegro was among subjects discussed today when Prime Minister Joseph Muscat met the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic.

At the end of the talks the energy ministers of the two countries, Konrad Mizzi and Vladimir Kavaric, signed a declaration of cooperation.

Dr Muscat said investment by a joint venture formed between Enemalta and Shanghai Electric in a major wind farm would provide 3% of renewable energy generated in Montenegro.

He said that Malta is also establishing itself as an international training centre in tourism and health thanks to the ITS and the Medical School.

Prime Minister Djukanovic looked forward to further cooperation with Malta.

Dr Muscat said Malta backed EU membership for Montenegro once membership requirements were achieved.

Dr Muscat's visit to Montenegro follows a visit to Serbia yesterday, where he also declared support for Serbian EU membership.
