The record sum of €1,040,855 was raised during the Feast of Generosity, organised by RTK4Charity in aid of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. The good weather helped and large crowds made it to Siġġiewi on the day to make their donations. Various parishes in Malta and Gozo made special collections and presented them during the event.

The home’s director, Fr Martin Micallef, said the event was a true reflection of the solidarity and generosity of the Maltese people. “The funds will help us continue to improve on the quality of life of our residents,” he added.

The first official visitor was Archbishop Charles Scicluna, who celebrated Mass in the home’s chapel and said people with disability deserved to be included in society and to find the type of care provided by Id-Dar tal-Providenza.

Other personalities who visited included President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca and her husband Edgar, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Opposition leader Simon Busuttil, parliamentary secretary Justyne Caruana, Archbishop Emeritus Paul Cremona and Vicar General Joe Galea Curmi.

The sum of €31,251 was raised through an auction of various works of art donated by over 90 artists. Bids were also placed online but most bidders were there personally to follow the process.
