Some 300 bikes held an emotional ceremony this morning at the site where a young woman died in collision with a truck in Naxxar last week.

Flowers were laid in memory of Johanna Boni who died instantly on Tuesday.

The bikers met at the Luxol Ground and drove slowly along the Coast Road to the site of the tragedy in Labour Avenue.

Her parents and friends were also present for this morning's commemoration.

Members of the Harley Owners Group adorned their bikes with flowers and posters to honour the young motorcyclist, while some pinned posters encouraging more awareness on the road.

Members of the Bicycling Advocacy Group were also at the event and joined forces with the HOG to promote safer driving.

“Take care of us, we all have families and it’s very sad when something like this happens. Please, take care of us,” Julian Calleja, chapter director of the Harley Owners Group, said. He was speaking in general terms.

He also urged drivers to avoid using mobile phones at all costs while driving.
