Malta University Consulting Ltd is offering a series of short courses on e-marketing, Matlab, mediation and public speaking during the coming weeks.

A 16-hour e-marketing course starts on January 23 and will be held at the University’s Gozo Campus, Xewkija. It is aimed at marketing personnel who have not yet experienced the full depth of e-marketing. The course co-ordinator and lecturer is e-business and marketing lecturer and consultant Kristel Jo Bishop. The course is being held in collaboration with the Gozo Ministry’s Directorate for Tourism and Economic Development.

A 24-hour training course in Matlab will start on February 2. It will focus on programming, data analysis and visualisation and is aimed at participants from various academic backgrounds. No prior knowledge in the subject is required. The co-ordinator and tutor is Cristiana Sebu, an associate professor in biomathematics at the University’s Faculty of Sciences.

A 15-hour course on the process of mediation will be held over a period of five days in February. It will focus on mediation skills and participants will learn how to weigh different alternatives, handle impasses and be creative in negotiating mutually acceptable agreements. The course co-ordinator and lecturer is lawyer Mario Caruana.

A course on the art of public speaking scheduled for March will help participants give both im­promptu and prepared speeches. The lecturer is Joseph Agius, a registered speech language pathologist with special interest in fluency disorders and humour research.
