An exhibition of Japanese paintings with the collaboration of Maltese guest artists is running at the Cavalieri Art Hotel in St Julian’s between Friday and February 10.
Japanese Impressions is the fourth exhibition of its kind being organised by Rin Terada from Shamane, Japan, with the help of Tomoko Germar, based in Berlin, Germany, and Joseph Barbara.
The exhibition showcases about 100 paintings, each representing a wide spectrum of Japanese art executed by well-established and new young artists. And, for the first time, 30 Maltese artists have been invited to present 60 works combining Mediterranean and Asian concepts and culture.
The styles differ from the traditional to the avant-garde and the modern. Maltese guest artists taking part in the exhibition are also being invited to exhibit one of their works in Tokyo, Japan, in April, thanks to IMS Create, a Japanese company based in Tokyo that promotes art and culture.
