Ryan Falzon is holding his latest exhibition, Quick Fix: a Morality Tale, at the Heritage Malta premises in Melita Street, Valletta. The exhibition presents a narrative in 14 lino prints, relating to the rise and fall of a petty thug.

Grounded in local references and imagery, Falzon’s signature style incorporates pop and punk imagery with Byzantine art to create a contemporary morality tale in a narrative that references both recent local events, as well as universal themes.

Falzon is developing a highly personal style in which he appropriates recognisable visual elements of local popular culture and subverts them to challenge notions of belonging and alienation. His work brings together neo-expressionistic aesthetics and pop imagery combined with a deeply felt intellectual and critical rationality.

Falzon’s direct approach provides a fresh, relevant and unsettling socio-political commentary.

The exhibition is being curated by Michael Fenech, who will provide a critical appraisal of Falzon’s work, placing it within contemporary artistic practice. The exhibition is being organised in collaboration with Heritage Malta and supported by Fondazzjoni Kreattivita.

Quick Fix: a Morality Tale opens on Friday at 8pm and runs until February 3.
