The Sicily home of Tuesday's motorbike victim was targetted by burglars as her parents flew to Malta to attend this morning's funeral, according to press reports.

Johanna Boni, 27, died following a horrific crash with a truck in Naxxar, making her the first traffic fatality of the year.

The Italian press reported that her parents' house in Scoglitti, Sicily, was targetted as they came to Malta to attend their daughter's funeral in Mosta.

According to Giornale Ibleo, the robbers took advantage of their absence, broke into the home and stole several items from the house, including from the room of the deceased.

The report says the robbers had attempted to break into the house on Tuesday, the day the woman died, but they were chased away by the owners.But they tried to break in the following day, this time successfully.

Meanwhile, hundreds of motorcyclists showed up at Mosta this morning to pay tribute to the Italian woman who was a keen motorbike rider.
