President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca inaugurated the Victoria heritage trail project, which involved the repaving of Independence, Savina and St George’s squares, Sir Adrian Dingli, Archpriest Saver Cassar, Sir Mikelang Refalo and Market streets.

Travertine marble slabs laid within the paved surface give directions and information about various historical aspects of the trail.

All water and sewage mains and household connections were replaced and new storm water culvert systems and underground service ducts laid.

The local council undertook the project with support from the European Regional Development Fund and the European Agriculture Fund for Rural Development. It was designed by architect Edward Scerri and managed by William Sultana.

Gozo Minister Anton Refalo, Victoria mayor Samuel Azzopardi and local councillors were among the guests at the inauguration.
