North Koreans gathered in Pyongyang to celebrate the New Year with a fireworks display.

The colorful show lit up the night sky, marking the start of 2016.

The display came just hours after leader Kim Jong Un made his fourth speech since taking over from his late father in 2011.

In his speech, he blamed South Korea for increased mistrust after a year of heightened tensions between the two rivals.
