A Maltese cyclist has called for harsher penalties for motorists after suffering a fractured elbow when he was hit by a car in Msida this week, just months after cycling the length of Britain without incident.

Do Maltese drivers have no respect for those riding a bike or do cyclists often take unnecessary risks? Do our roads make it almost impossible for anybody to ride a bicycle and are there any laws actually protecting those who cycle?

2016's first edition of Times Talk will discuss the dangers of cycling in Malta as well as the possible solutions. The injured cyclist will be among the main guests in the studio.

Presented by Herman Grech and Mark Micallef, Times Talk is transmitted on TVM on Tuesday at 10.05pm, with a repeat on TVM at 1.30pm.
