Four young players are currently participating in the Carlton International Youth Tournament, in Hoensbroek, the Netherlands.

More than 600 players from 15 different countries are taking part over three days of non-stop badminton which come to a close tomorrow. This is the second time that Badminton Malta is being represented at the tournament.

The first two days of the competition are reserved for individual matches as most of the singles events are being played on a round robin system. The doubles tournament is a knock-out basis.

The third and last day of the tournament will be dedicated to friendly mixed doubles competitions.

Nigel Degaetano is playing in the U-19 singles and doubles where he will be partnered by Frenchman Adel Meddah.

Matthew Abela is in the U-17 singles and will team up with Dutch girl Stella Li in mixed doubles.

In the U-15 tournament, Mark Abela and Sam Cassar are playing in the singles and doubles events.

In a statement, Badminton Malta expressed its satisfaction after the positive results obtained recently by the young players coming up within its fold and augur well for the future of the sport.
