If there is a place where traffic management needs to be addressed by Transport Malta, it is Rotunda Square in Mosta.
In this square there are five pedestrian crossings, all without pedestrian traffic lights to control the flow of thousands of vehicles and pedestrians who cross this square every day, especially during the morning and early evening.
There are four banks, a health centre, local council offices, post office, police station, restaurants, bars, cafeterias and, of course, the famous Mosta Church which attracts hundreds of visitors each day. So one can easily imagine how many people use the pedestrian crossings, resulting in vehicles coming to a halt every few seconds thus causing a lot of traffic congestion.
I have yet to see such a busy square in Europe which has no traffic lights at pedestrian crossings.
I trust that Transport Malta will take note and address this problem and help to improve the flow of traffic in one of the busiest squares in our country.
