The Institute for Sustainable Energy of the University is once again offering three courses aimed at training installers and engineers in the fields of solar heating and solar photovoltaic (PV) system installations (single and three phase systems). The lectures will also be broadcast live via video conferencing to the Gozo Campus for students workingin Gozo, provided that a minimum number of students is reached.

The courses are tailor-made to provide the necessary information and training for installers to reach a high level of competence for installing solar systems. The courses on photovoltaics are being organised jointly with the Department of Industrial Power Conversion of the Faculty of Engineering.

Courses aimed at training solar heating installers

The courses are registered with the Malta Resources Authority according to Government Notice of 1302 of 2014. Students who obtain at least Grade B (70 per cent) shall be certified to practise solar installations in their field for a period of five years. Their names will also be placed on the website of the Malta Resources Authority and they will be acknowledged as certified installers.

The courses are scheduled to start on February 1. Lectures are held twice a week between 3 and 5pm. Registration will close on January 18 at noon. Applicants must have the required pre-requisites and posts are filled on a first-come first-served basis, due to the limited number of places.
