After a career in banking spanning a period of 35 years, Alex Mizzi set his sights on writing short stories in Maltese. His first book, Mhux Bilfors Hekk, is one of the latest publications issued by Klabb Kotba Maltin and was launched during this year’s Malta National Book Festival.

In the foreword to the book, the author describes how these short stories were inspired by his observations on life and on the people that make part of it during his life journey so far.

The book is made up of 15 stories which are the fruit of the author’s imagination, except for one which is based on what the author believes to be a true story as recounted to him by the main protagonist.

Mizzi challenges the readers to guess which story this is, but adds one proviso: everybody is allowed to reach his or her own conclusions, as long as it is understood that the answer may not be the correct one.

Mhux Bilfors Hekk also includes a literary appreciation by Oliver Friggieri. It is available from leading book stores or online.
