Matthew Asciak continued to cement himself as the top player in the local tennis scene after winning the BOV Tennis Masters Championship which was played recently at Marsa Sports Club.

It was Asciak’s fifth Masters title since 2010, and his third in a row, missing out only in 2012 when he could not participate due to international commitments.

In the final, played at the Gordon Asciak Tennis Academy court, Asciak beat Matthew Cassar Torregiani 6-0 6-3 to retain the title.

In the BOV Ladies Top Five Tournament, Elaine Genovese won all her four matches to head the classification at the end of the round robin tournament, the last ranking event of the season in Malta.

Stefan Abela, Community Relations Officer at Bank of Valletta, accompanied by David Farrugia Sacco, Malta Tennis Federation president, distributed the prizes to the winners at the end of the tournament.

“This is the sixth edition of the BOV Tennis Masters and we are very pleased to see Malta’s top talent battle it out in the last ranking competition of the year,” Abela said.
