An amputee drew long applause this morning as he managed to walk the last few metres of the Mdina to Spinola marathon.

Noel Cacciottolo lost a leg some years ago and had since been confined to a wheelchair. But thanks to intensive physiotherapy he has been able to walk again.

His brother-in-law, Raniero Borg, pushed him on a wheelchair all the way from Mdina this morning, but 150 meters from the finish line Noel, wearing a Santa hat, was able to get up on his prosthetic leg and make it to the finish on his own, to cheers and applause.
