Q: I have two retail shops in which I installed a CCTV system. Almost two years later, I am having trouble with one of the hard drives. When I contacted the supplier, I was told that the system is only covered by a one-year warranty, as stated in the invoice.

As far as I know, purchases are covered for two years and not one. What are my rights?

A: Since the CCTV system was purchased to be installed on business premises, such a transaction is legally viewed as business-to-business, hence legal provisions of the Consumer Affairs Act do not apply. This means that the two-year legal protection and remedies provided cannot be applied in your case.

This case falls within the Civil Code and therefore you are advised to seek the assistance of a lawyer.
