Nearly €250,000 has been allocated by the government to continue improving sports facilities in Gozo next year, Parliamentary Secretary for Sport Chris Agius said during a business breakfast held at the Grand Hotel, Għajnsielem.

The event, organised by the Gozo Sports Board was held to discuss the promotion of sport on the island.

Gozo Minister Anton Refalo said a public swimming pool on Malta’s sister island will become a reality in the near future. He added that several pilot projects were due to start, including voluntary training sessions in sport and physical activity in Gozitan kindergartens.

Other speakers included acting Sport Malta chief executive Mark Cutajar and Gozo Sports Board chief executive Alvin Grech.
