U2 frontman Bono has paid tribute to 130 people killed by extremists in Paris and 14 murdered in the California mass shooting, as the band performed in the French capital.

Names of Paris attack victims were projected on a huge video screen in the arena on Paris’s east side, not far from the site of the November 13 rampage.

Bono wrapped himself in a French tricolor flag for the encore, in which he sang a verse from crooner Jacques Brel’s Ne Me quitte Pas – Don’t Leave Me.

“We stand together with the families of those killed in Paris. We stand together with the families of those killed in San Bernardino,” he said.

The attack in San Bernardino by husband and wife Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik is being investigated as an act of terrorism.

Housewife Malik, 29, who had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) group on Facebook, and Farook, 28, were killed in a shoot-out with police hours after they opened fire with assault rifles on a gathering of Farook’s colleagues from the San Bernardino County health department.
